Japan must be determined to lead world in green biz

A small country with few natural resources but with a large population, Japan was one of the first in the world to enhance its energy efficiency with the aim of becoming an environment-friendly country.
In recent years, the rest of the world is facing similar issues. In other words, Japan’s challenges and solutions will be used straight as the model for the world; our country is the leader in solving these problems.
Japanese energy-efficient manufacturing technologies can immediately contribute to inhibiting global warming.
In Japan, which already boasts high energy efficiency in manufacturing, factories are unlikely to drastically reduce CO2 emissions further. Yet there still is much room for emissions cuts in the daily lives of people.
Energy used in everyday life refers to energy used at home, offices and by household and commercial vehicles. This type of energy accounts for 55% of the country’s total energy consumption.
Seven years ago when we renovated our home, we rebuilt it as an environment-friendly house and began saving energy. With a heat-pump boiler, double-glazed windows and solar power generation, we more than halved our external energy supply compared with before the renovation. We also bought a hybrid vehicle and a new, energy-saving refrigerator, slashing energy use by a whopping 80%... .. .. .. .. ..
