The Practical English Lesson ( Lesson 3 )
I post the Practical English Lesson 3
-Lesson 3-
From this week, I begin to explain my concrete procedure about how to study “Practical English”.
1.First of all, please choose the movie’s DVD for you.
The “KEY POINTS” to choose it are following.
(1)The DVD of your most favorite movie
(2)The movie of which you can get the scenario book.
Almost movie’s DVDs have English caption, but those who can follow English caption are very few. In other words, when you become to be able to follow English caption, it means that you get quite a bit of “Practical English” skill.
( I recommend “Screenplay Series”. )
(3)When you see the movie for many times, it does NOT make you turn off.
2. Why do I make you use both the movie’s DVD and its scenario book at first ?
(1)If I introduce English educational material at first, many persons frustrate on the way, because many persons, especially Japanese, have the complex emotion to English due to the English lesson in the schools (Junior high school, Senior high school, etc.)
So you study English with both movies and movies’ scenario books, and you get rid of the complex emotion, afterward you had better study English with educational material.
I think this approach is reasonable from the point of psychology.
It will be necessary that you continue to study English with movies, but when you get quite a bit of “Practical English” skill, you could study English without scenario book, at this time, the expression, “to study English”would rather is not right, you could enjoy movies just with English.
(2)To listen to English under the situation, where you do NOT know what actors and actresses take up the word, produces no effect for getting the Practical English skill.
From that standpoint, I think that JUST LISTENING TO ENGLISH produces no effect.
3.The concrete procedure to study English with movie’s DVD and its scenario book.
(1)You make sure what actors and actresses take up the word and understand that with scenario book.
(2)After (1) is finished, you see the movie with English caption or without caption.
(3)Repeating (1) and (2), you carry forward to see your movie.
(4)The time to study English per a day is 15~30 minute, of course, it depends on individual.
The continuing is most important.
(5)Maybe I think you experience the arduous feeling for the first 2~3 months, but, indeed it is necessary that you get one or more arduousness under better control in order to get something new.
(6)When you get through the first 2~3 months, your complex emotion to English will disappear and your learning effect will have been accelerating.
(7)When you get (6) situation, you had better begin to study English with educational materials.
When you read the scenario books of movies, you would find out that the words and expressions which are used in movies are very easy.
If you feel that the expressions are sophisticated, you could memorize it immediately.
If the words or expressions are memorized in the context, you could use them in the actual communication with complete control.
I do hope that you try above thing.
This week lesson is over.
