”Practical English” Lesson 4
-Lesson 4-
Maybe I think that you understand what I want to say, “To study English with movie” means “to study English with live English”. We are not native English speakers. So when we look at movies in English, The English used in movies does not sound like the English which we learned in school.
But, do not lose your head. Please recognize “how the live English sounds like”. “How the live English sounds like” seems that there is difference among individuals. That is right.(KEY POINT).
The expressions, (to think with English, English-language brain, Japanese-language brain etc.) are used frequently.
They are bad expressions, because they give misapprehension to many persons to learn English. Human being does not have two brains. It is clear.
When you think something, do you have a consciousness of thinking with Japanese?
That is “NO”.
We live using Japanese everyday without a thought.
I will explain it in a little more detail.
We have been living in Japanese circumstance from birth, so we have a lot of Japanese words and expressions in the “drawers” which are in our brain.
We can pay in and out the “drawers” without any inhibition.
In a similar way, we have necessary English words and expressions in the “drawers” which are in our brain, because we had learned English in junior high school, senior high school, university etc.
But we can NOT pay in and out the “drawers” in which there are English words and expressions without any inhibition. This circumstance means that we do NOT have the operational capability of English.
Then, to study “Practical English” means to be able to pay in and out the “drawers in which there are English words and expressions without any Inhibition.
Given this perspective, you could study “Practical English” in a non-threatening way.
This is the essential truth.
This week lesson is over.
