Pioneer decided to withdraw from plasma panel production

Pioneer Corp. will end more than a decade of plasma panel manufacturing by outsourcing production of all plasma display panels to rival Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., sources said Tuesday.
Amid sluggish sales of its home-use electronics products, Tokyo-based Pioneer decided to withdraw from plasma panel production and will use Matsushita panels on its TVs in a cost-cutting measure.
