Improvement of the power conversion efficiency of power conditioners for solar cells.

Mitsubishi Electric Corp. improved the power conversion efficiency of domestic-version power conditioners for solar cells from the conventional value of 95.5% to 97.5%, which is a record-high in the industry.
The key to the improvement of the power conversion efficiency was the adoption of ”Gradient Control Inverter Method.” Conventionally, square waves generated by one inverter were converted to sine waves via a filter circuit.
In the newly adopted gradient control inverter method, pseudo-sine waves are generated directly by three inverters. In this method, the power conversion efficiency is improved because the loss at the filter circuit is eliminated.
