G-8 Urges Big Emitters To Share 50%-Reduction Goal By ’50

The Group of Eight countries Tuesday agreed on the importance of halving global emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050 and called on China, India and other major emitters to endorse the long-term reduction goal.
The goal of ”achieving at least 50% reduction of global emissions by 2050,” leaders of the eight leading industrial economies said in a statement issued after their talks, ”can only be met by a global response, in particular, by the contributions from all major economies.”
The G-8 agreement on carbon emissions is a product of the non-U.S. members of the G-8 showing a measure of consideration to the stance of Washington, which has persistently argued that any carbon-cutting deal must have the participation of China, India and other major emitters. The U.S. has shown strong reluctance to a proposal that only the G-8 to ”halve emissions by 2050.”

As for the conclusion of the G8 summit, there are a lot of vague expressions. Moreover, consideration to the United States from other members is too strong.
However, it is thought the conclusion at the level expected beforehand.
I want to think that the environment in the world advanced in a good direction.
